Team Mathews delivered a noteworthy finish to the 2021 ASA season recently at the ASA Classic in Ft. Benning, Georgia, claiming three Shooter of the Year titles, three Rookie of the Year awards, and two first-place podium spots.

Dan McCarthy – Men’s Open Pro, Cara Kelly – Women’s Open Pro, and Chris Perkins – Known Pro, each finished the ASA tournament season with the most points in their categories, clinching the most coveted award in 3-D archery –  ASA Shooter of the Year (SOY). This is Kelly’s seventh SOY award in the Women’s Open Pro division. McCarthy has now won SOY in Men’s Open Pro three times.

“We are extremely proud of Dan, Chris and Cara, and the entire Mathews team for that matter,” said Mathews Pro Staff Manager Derek Phillips. “We could see their determination and drive at every tournament producing a well-earned recognition.”

The ASA tournament tour consists of tournaments across the country. ASA Pro Division competitors shoot two rounds of twenty targets. These targets vary in distance up to 50 yards and the five highest scores from the first two rounds qualify for the shoot down to decide the winner. The shooter with the most points after all events is dubbed Shooter of the Year in each division.

To top off the incredible ASA season, Mathews shooters also earned Rookie of the Year awards in three Pro Divisions: Remington Boyer in Known Pro, Haly Grine in Women’s Pro, and Ryan Jeffries in Open Pro.

In addition to the three Shooter of the Year awards and three Rookie of the Year awards, Team Mathews claimed two first-place podium spots at the ASA Classic; husband and wife Dan and Emily McCarthy (below) won the Men’s Open Pro and Women’s Open Pro divisions. This is the third time this season that Dan and Emily won their respective divisions on the same weekend.

Dan and Emily McCarthy each took first place at the recent ASA Classic in Ft. Benning, Georgia. Dan won in the Men’s Open Pro division, and Emily won in Women’s Open Pro. Dan also secured 2021 Shooter of the Year honors; Emily took second place in SOY to her teammate Cara Kelly.
