Arcus Hunting Names New CEO
Arcus Hunting, the platform that manufactures and markets brands including Tink’s, Dead Down Wind, Ramcat Broadheads and Trophy Taker, recently announced the appointment of Jody Agnew as CEO. Agnew joins Arcus Hunting with more than 25 years of experience in consumer products. He most recently served as chief revenue officer for Revo Brands (Parent company of the Real Avid & Outdoor Edge brands). He has also held management positions at Fiskars Outdoors, American Outdoor Brands, Timberland, Reebok and Newell Rubbermaid.
Agnew succeeds Corey Consuegra, who announced his resignation from the company in January 2023.
“Jody has made a strong impression on the board with his vision to expand on the success of our leading brands,” said Arcus Chairman of the Board Phil Robinson. “The Board and I are confident that Jody is the right person to lead our company to new levels of success. He is a seasoned leader with significant experience in hunting categories. We are lucky to have him as our next CEO, and we thank Corey for his important contributions to the business over the past 4-plus years.”
Agnew has experience in sales, marketing, product development, manufacturing and sourcing. According to Robinson, Agnew has excelled in leading cross-functional teams across a wide range of industries and is well-versed in strategic planning, budget management, training and employee engagement.

S3DA Breaks Attendance Record for 2023 Vegas National Championship
On Feb. 2, 2023, Scholastic 3-D Archery (S3DA), in conjunction with the National Field Archery Association (NFAA), held the 6th annual S3DA Vegas National Championship at the South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. S3DA and NFAA staff worked together to accommodate the burgeoning registration numbers with additional venue space, allowing more archers to compete.
S3DA had recording-breaking attendance with nearly 300 archers from 64 teams and 30 states competing for the title of National Champion in their respective division and class. Many collegiate archery programs sent scholarships to be presented to the Young Adult archers during the awards ceremony.
The S3DA program is experiencing rapid growth in the western United States. One of the main reasons the West has grown so rapidly is because the program not only focuses on competition archery, but also assists youth members in learning about conservation education. Many members are engaged in outdoor activities, including but not limited to hunting, fishing, trapping, etc.
Chris McDonald, S3DA national competition coordinator, said, “Each year droves of archers register for The Vegas Shoot, and many of those youth archers are members of the NFAA and S3DA programs. While working the event, one of the NFAA judges complimented our kids and program. He said that our kids were very respectful to judges as well as to fellow competitors and were well-coached. It makes me really happy to get feedback like this. I am proud to be just a small part of such a great organization.”
S3DA is now looking forward to the Eastern Indoor National Championship on March 2-5, 2023, in Owensboro, Kentucky at the Owensboro Convention Center, as well as the Western Indoor National Championship on April 1-2, 2023, in Vernal, Utah.

Paige Pearce Sets New Record at USA indoor National Qualifier
Team Bowtech’s Paige Pearce recently set a new national record at the 54th USA Indoor Nationals in Sacramento, California, with a score of 1190.
Pearce, a world champion archer, has been a member of the Bowtech family for several years. Her dedication to the sport and passion for excellence has been evident in her numerous achievements. She has won several national competitions and has set many records.
At the 54th USA Indoor nationals, Pearce proved her skill once again by setting a new national record with a record score of 1190. She held the previous record of 1188.
“I’ve held the double 18m round record with an 1188 since 2017,” she wrote on her Facebook page. “I just shot an 1190 with two 595s and I’m so stoked! It’s been a great indoor season so far, and this just made it that much better! Thankful is an understatement!”
FYI: A perfect score would be 1200, with two rounds of 600. Archers shoot 60 arrows per round; a perfect score in a single round means 60 arrows touching the 10 ring. The 10 ring measures 2 centimeters in diameter; this is slightly larger than 3/4-inch diameter, or thought of another way, just a hair smaller than a nickel. Shot distance is 18 meters, or 19.7 yards.
