The new Proof Research PXT (Proof Exponential Twist) Barrel Technology rethinks traditional rifling design by gradually increasing twist rate throughout the bore instead of immediately engaging the projectile at full twist. According to the company, this progressive twist design helps reduce pressure spikes, minimize throat erosion and lessen bullet deformation during ignition, all of which contribute to improved barrel longevity and consistency. Proof reports internal testing has demonstrated barrel life gains ranging from 30 to 100% while maintaining the company’s established accuracy standards. Additional advantages include more uniform projectile stabilization and reduced felt torque during firing. PXT technology is currently available in select Proof carbon fiber and steel barrels for AR-pattern and bolt-action rifles, along with select complete rifle systems.
