Why Continuing Education Is Key for Archery Professionals

The ATA can help you and your business stay current with the latest trends through many of its education-driven member benefits.

Why Continuing Education Is Key for Archery Professionals

As an archery shop owner, retailer, manufacturer or distributor, you want to make sure your business knowledge is up to date with the latest trends. You can do that by staying current with continuing education courses. These can be anything from courses on how to market your shop online to receiving a new certification credential. Learn how the ATA can help you meet these goals with our many education-driven member benefits.

Build Your Own Low-Cost Website

A reliable website is essential for a business to be successful. The ATA offers an online course through our Learning Center that teaches users how to create a dynamic, functional website without blowing the budget. We’ll teach you how to use your website to inform your customers, allow them to connect with you, generate new prospective customers and encourage them to follow through with an in-person visit to your store.

The course includes information about how to:

  • Secure your website domain
  • Build the website
  • Find a web host
  • Manage your Google business listing
  • Add a Google Map to the site
  • Add video content
  • Increase customer reviews

The course is free through the Learning Center and is available exclusively to ATA members!

ATA Show Morning Seminar Series

The ATA provides a handful of education seminars in the mornings before the ATA Show opens. The seminars are conducted by industry professionals who are experts in their field. The seminars are recorded, so you can attend them in-person free of charge if you are attending the ATA Show, or you can purchase the recordings online after the Show. Stay tuned for the seminar lineup for the 2026 ATA Show in Indianapolis.

Topics from the 2025 ATA Show include:

  • “Building a Culture of Innovation” with Randy Walk
  • “Selling Hunting Clothing: Strategies for Success” with Mike Meiran
  • “The Magic Key to Archery Consistency” with George Ryals IV
  • “All Things Bowstrings” with Eric Griggs and Cody Hall

The cost of the course is $100 for ATA members and $500 for nonmembers through the Learning Center.

ATA Bow Technician Certification Courses

The ATA recently debuted the Recurve Bow Technician Certification Course in April 2025. The course covers:

  • Basics of proper recurve shooting form
  • Recurve bow parts, including their design and function
  • Proper bow fitment
  • How to set up recurve bows for recreational archery, traditional hunting, traditional 3D archery, barebow and target recurve.

The recurve course joins the growing lineup of ATA certification courses, which also includes compound and crossbow courses. The accreditation gives you the opportunity to promote yourself as an ATA-certified technician, while adding credibility to your business. You’ll receive a certificate for each staff member who’s been certified, as well as a large banner to hang on your wall to show your customers that you’re a trusted tech.

The courses are available to both members and nonmembers at $600 per course, $995 for two or $1,395 for three.

ATA’s Retail Trend Tracker Survey

As an archery business, data plays a pivotal role in making critical business decisions. To address that need, ATA provides a quarterly survey that gathers insight from retailers across the country to help members adapt to changing conditions regionally, as well as to compare your business to what is happening nationally. The report includes data for trends in archery sales broken down by bow type, services and more, as well as customer buying habits and demographics. When you analyze these reports you’ll be able to see, at a glance, how your shop compares to others in your area, helping you adjust your prices, offerings and business approach for the upcoming quarter.

ATA-member retailers should be on the lookout for survey requests via email. We will send you a link to the survey where you have the unique opportunity to provide information for your shop and be a part of the larger conversation.

The surveys are free for members and $250 for nonmembers.
