Shooting Sports Industry News: Gun Safe Recall; Competition Winners

Here is the latest shooting sports industry news:

A recall has been issued for the Stack-On Sentinel gun safe due to a door bolt malfunction, its parent company has announced.

Alpha Guardian announced the move and said it is working with the federal CPSC’s Fast Track Recall process. Fast Track recalls are initiated by firms that commit to work with CPSC to quickly announce the recall and remedy to protect consumers.

Stack-On Sentinel gun safe recall

On the Stack-On Sentinel gun safe, a bolt malfunction can cause the safe to open without the use of a key or combination, allowing access to any firearms stored inside and posing an injury hazard. About 1,250 units are affected. The recall began March 21, 2019. Federal recall number is 19-087.

The black steel safe is used to store firearms and valuables. It measures 40 inches by 25 inches by 55 inches. It has three shelves and can store approximately 10 firearms. The safe style number FSS18-64-MB-E-S can be found on the shipping packaging. The “Sentinel” name appears on the front of the safe.

Consumers should immediately stop using the safe and contact Alpha Guardian for instructions on receiving a free replacement safe or a full refund.

These safes were sold at Dick's Sporting Goods stores nationwide from November 2018 to December 2018 for about $700. The safes were manufactured in Mexico.

For questions and remedy information contact Alpha Guardian toll-free at 833-255-9827 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday or email at DCSG@AlphaGuardian.com.

Birchwood Casey Acquires T&S Shell Catcher

Birchwood Casey has obtained the T & S Shell Catcher brand and incorporated it into the Birchwood Casey product lines.

“T & S Shell Catchers are widely known in shooting sports as one of the top options in their product category,” stated Todd Binsfeld, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Birchwood Casey. “We’re very happy to have acquired the brand and look forward to elevating the product via Birchwood Casey.”

T & S Shell Catchers catch single shotgun empties after firing. This allows you to save casings for reloading, avoid hitting the neighboring shooter with ejected shells and adhere to range rules that prohibit shell cases from hitting the ground.

T & S Shell Catchers snap easily to the side of your shotgun’s receiver just below the ejection port and snap off when you need to cycle more than one shell.

Celerant, Kinsey's Partner for Easier Dealer Ordering

Celerant Technology, a provider of retail solutions for the archery/outdoor industry, has updated its Cumulus eCommerce platform with a pre-populated database of archery-related products and accessories from Kinsey’s.

Archery dealers can order Kinsey’s products from an in-store kiosk, which enables dealers to sell more products in-store and online with ease. Cumulus eCommerce integrates with Celerant’s fully-featured retail point-of-sale solution, allowing dealers to manage their website, store, archery range and memberships within a single solution.

Through Celerant’s vendor integrations, dealers can display products from Kinsey’s, other distributors, plus their own physical inventory simultaneously — all in a centralized view. Cumulus eCommerce can pull data feeds from each distributor, consisting of product names, descriptions, images and available stock levels, then immediately display those products online in nearly real-time, which eliminates the need to manually import data. Cumulus also offers the ability for dealers to modify product data to further differentiate their website, as well as prioritize which vendor’s products to sell first.

Archery dealers who sell firearms can leverage Celerant’s integrated A&D Book and electronic Form 4473 for ATF compliance, and integrate with many firearm distributors.

Cumulus eCommerce allows dealers to easily manage their pricing strategy, and incentivize customers by offering promotions, coupons and loyalty programs. Pricing rules can be applied to each distributor, specific categories, departments, pricing levels, a percentage increase, or a dollar amount over cost. Dealers can easily change pricing data while in edit mode, and deactivate distributors as needed.
