When it came time for O.F. Mossberg & Sons, Inc., to pull the trigger on expansion, Connecticut and its bevy of new firearms restrictions lost out, and Texas won. Headquartered in New Haven, Connecticut, Mossberg chose to expand production in Texas. Despite the company’s history in Connecticut, it was a no-brainer.

“Investing in Texas was an easy decision,” said CEO Iver Mossberg. “It’s a state that is not only committed to economic growth but also honors and respects the Second Amendment and the firearm freedoms it guarantees for our customers.”

Located in Eagle Pass, Texas, the Maverick Arms production facility will be getting a new $3.4 million, 116,000 square-foot addition. Governor Rick Perry’s office has been pushing for this and Texas Enterprise Fund’s efforts to lure new business to the state, combined with low taxes, smart firearms regulations, and a skilled workforce, made it a reality.

“A significant amount of our manufacturing has been based in our Eagle Pass facility since 1989,” noted Mossberg. “This new expansion will allow us to take full advantage of the outstanding work ethic of our long‐time employees and help us meet an ever‐growing demand for Mossberg rifles and shotguns. We thank Governor Perry and TEF for their efforts which made this expansion possible.”

All wood gun stock production will now be performed in Eagle Pass. Mossberg noted that other firearm lines, including modern sporting rifles, could move to Texas in the future.
