CMMG Adds Varmint Rifles To Mk4 Line

CMMG, Inc., is expanding its already-extensive line of Mk4 AR-style rifles to include two new models designed specifically for varmints. The Mk4 V and Mk4 V2 meet the challenge of long range shooting combined with the need for quick shots at moving targets, where a combination of speed, accuracy, and quick handling are needed to take out prairie dogs, coyote, and other varmints for sport or property management.

Both the Mk4 V and the Mk4 V2 are chambered in 5.56/.223 and feature 24-inch fluted medium weight stainless steel barrels. The fluting serves to both reduce weight and enhance heat dissipation during repeated firing. The receiver is forged 7075-T6 aluminum.

Both rifles also sport CMMG’s RKM14 KeyMod hand guard. The KeyMod system is growing in popularity on ARs and other long guns, and offers a couple of advantages over standard Picatinny-style tactical rails. First, rather than adding rails to the handguard, KeyMod slots reduce material and, as a result, weigh less than standard rail handguards. Secondly, the lack of external rails makes the handguard slimmer and easier for shooters to grip and hold steady. KeyMod accessories attach directly to the KeyMod slots, while accessories for standard rails can also be attached using simple adapter rail sections. The KeyMod slots run along the handguard in the 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions. A standard Picatinny tactical rail runs along the top of the handguard and upper receiver.

The Mk4 V has a standard A2-style pistol grip and A1-style full buttstock and comes with a mil-spec single stage trigger. The Mk4 V2 swaps in a Magpul MOE pistol grip and buttstock and a Geissele Automatics SSA two stage trigger.

Both rifles come with a 30-round Magpul PMAG. The Mk4 V has an MSRP of $1,249 while the upgraded Mk4 V2 lists at $1,499.
