This week marks the 45th anniversary of the first manned moon landing. Many Americans are reading about it and looking at photos and video of the amazing adventure on their tablets and mobile phones. Those gadgets have computing power that blows away what was available on the Eagle when it landed in the Sea of Tranquility in 1969. Hunters and sport shooters carry technology in their pocket that would have amazed Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins, and Carl Zeiss Sports Optics is taking advantage of this by making their Ballistic Calculator available in mobile app version for Apple iOS and Android users.

Modeled after the successful and popular website-based program, the new mobile Ballistic Calculator app brings a library of data and powerful calculations into the field for quick and easy use by shooters anywhere and everywhere.

“In the spirit of forward thinking, we wanted those who use our proprietary ballistic reticles to have a ballistic tool that could be used virtually anywhere you have a signal for your device,” stated Mike Jensen, President of Carl Zeiss Sports Optics. “We are constantly striving to provide truly innovative technology that will compliment every skill set for our passionate customers.”

Shooters select their Zeiss riflescope, ammunition, and environmental data including elevation and air temperature. Handloaded ammo can be entered manually. The Ballistic Calculator takes all these variables, chunks through the numbers, and quickly outputs a visual of the reticle with yardage figures listed and optimal magnification setting displayed. The shooter can adjust the magnification and get updated targeting data.

The Zeiss Ballistic Calculator app is available at iTunes (iPhone and iPad) and Google Play (Android) for $4.99. The online web-based version is free online at www.zeiss.com.
